Next week we’re in Sofia, Bulgaria, with the British Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce for Green Cities are GREAT 2025 - a focused programme of municipal meetings, a conference day, and B2B sessions all taking place at Sofia Tech Park.

Why this matters

Cities don’t lack climate ambition. They lack a repeatable way to turn spatial data and strategy into a pipeline of investable, shovel‑ready projects. Bulgaria and Southeast Europe are ideal testbeds for a place‑based, multi‑technology approach because EU and national funds reward structured origination, not one‑offs. Which is where we come in!
What we’re there to do:
Meet municipal leaders responsible for decarbonisation, heat networks, retrofit, mobility, and local energy planning
Connect with utilities and infrastructure developers building regional pipelines
Explore pilot opportunities to localise our “City‑Leap‑in‑a‑Box” approach with Bulgarian partners
Map how EU cohesion and mission programmes are deployed on the ground
That’s three days of meeting public and private sector leaders to see how we can work together to edge ever closer to Net Zero goals across the UK and EU.

What Nordic Energy brings

Nordic Energy, through our tools Odin and Thor, let cities, investors, developers and utility providers, blend proprietary 3D city‑scale mapping with hands‑on delivery expertise across heat networks, solar, wind, EV charging, and retrofit. That’s what we’ll be taking with us and why we’re eager to arrive in Bulgaria. Our tools let cities, highways, and utility providers see the opportunities that already exist in their area, across multiple technologies, and turn those into a pipeline of investable, shovel‑ready projects. Alongside the software, our team supports the commercial, technical, regulatory and stakeholder work that actually gets projects over the line - from early structuring and procurement through to delivery governance and risk management.

Why Bulgaria, why now?

Southeast Europe’s funding mix rewards structured origination over one‑off pilots. Green Cities are GREAT brings municipal leads, utilities, and developers into one room - the exact audience for our “The exact audience for our City-Leap in a box” approach. It’s a chance to localise the innovative offering we’ve been working on with partners across the UK, adapting it to suit the demands of life in Europe.

What we aim to achieve in Sofia

Sit down with municipal climate and infrastructure leads to shape a first wave of heat, power, retrofit, low carbon transport and local low carbon energy projects
Meet DSOs/TSOs, ESCOs, and developers to align on a regional delivery model and supply‑chain activation
Sense‑check a pilot that proves the model and strengthens the investor case for scaling in Southeast Europe and back in the UK
If you’ll be in Sofia, let’s talk. We’re especially keen to sit down with municipal climate and infrastructure leads, DSOs/TSOs and ESCOs, investors and developers focused on heat, solar, storage, retrofit, or regeneration.
